Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are set to take on a 24-hour danceathon challenge for Comic Relief.

The presenters of BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing will take on the competition to raise money ahead of Red Nose Day in March.

Speaking on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, Claudia said: “Comic Relief is a magical thing, you don’t say no. I have two naps most days.”

Tess added: “Can we stay awake for 24 hours and keep moving?”

The challenge was last undertaken by Sara Cox in 2017, when she danced to music from the 80s live on BBC Radio 2.

Tess and Claudia have a history of supporting the BBC charity, having presented on the live telethon.

They also hosted a special called The People’s Strictly for Comic Relief, which let members of the public take part in the dance competition.

Claudia said: “We met the most amazing man Greg White, who’s going to help us with the challenge.

“He mentioned this thing called ‘core strength’ and I don’t have it!”

Tess added: “I am an enthusiastic disco dancer but this is a bit different!”

The pair also teased that they would be joined by a few special guests, including the cast of West End musical Mamma Mia.
